Job Summary

Fully implement the EHS program (federal and state requirements) including but not limited to providing a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for infants and toddlers, engaging families in the program and ensuring all content area standards are met.

  • Infant/Toddler CDA (Child Development Associate Certificate). If hired without CDA, failure to meet targets/make progress will result in termination or transfer to alternative position not requiring a CDA. Target date cannot exceed 12 months from hire, but may be sooner. 

  • May also qualify with a Certificate of Mastery, an AA/AS, or a BS/BA or above in related field and with appropriate experience and training.

  • Prefer two years’ experience in pre-school (infant/toddler) classroom.

  • Knowledge of community resources & referral experience assisting families is highly desirable.

  • Must have flexible schedule to accommodate family needs, may include some evening or weekends.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly desirable.

  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver's License and proof of insurance and have vehicle on premises.

  • Must be Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified and have a current Food Handler's Card.

  • Must maintain health status, which includes but is not limited to presenting self for work physical and initial TB screening, maintaining health status and following health and safety protocols, policies, or requirements per as directed by ACF/OHS, HSPS, and/or company policy, etc.

  • Must meet background check requirements and RAP back requirements. 

  • Must participate in Professional Development Planning. 

  • Intermediate computer, internet and e-mail skills required.

  • Bilingual skills are a plus!


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Frequent significant decision and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work as a team member collaborating with staff, parents and community resources.

  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and ethics with coworkers and families.

  • Ability to supervise and monitor children at all times to ensure a safe environment. This includes the physical ability to monitor and move quickly in order to respond to children who are very active and may need restraint or redirection in order to insure their safety or the safety of others.

  • Ability to apply Early Childhood Development (focus on infant/toddler) theory in daily activities, and adapt to the individual needs of children

  • Ability to respond appropriately to an emergency or a crisis situation.

  • Regular driving for home visits, sometimes in outlying areas.

  • Regular kneeling, stooping, bending, & sitting on the floor to attend to children's needs. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.  Frequent lifting and holding of babies and toddlers. Keyboarding. 

  • Daily mealtime experiences for the children; sits and eats with children and engages in conversation.



OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED


Educators may also provide significant leadership for a site by serving as a site director; such educators will meet the DHS requirements for Site Director and will fulfill those duties as prescribed by DHS and the agency. Provides leadership, organization, and manages DHS requirements for staff information, health and safety, reporting, center OKREGISTRY information, etc. Anchors center and ensures high quality in all areas.

 


SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS


Works under the supervision of the assigned EHS Specialist and/or Manager and may receive direction from EHS leadership team and coach. If serving as Site Director, provides guidance and support to other staff.  Content specialists and managers may also direct employee.
